Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Football to oversee and lead all football-related operations at our club. In this high-level leadership role, you will be responsible for shaping the club’s football philosophy, managing recruitment strategies, and ensuring alignment between the first team, academy, and coaching staff. The ideal candidate will bring exceptional leadership skills, a strategic mindset, and a deep understanding of the football industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement a long-term football strategy aligned with the club’s vision and objectives.
- Establish a clear football philosophy and ensure it is integrated across all levels of the club.
- Oversee the club’s player development pathway, from academy to first team.
Team and Recruitment Management
- Lead and manage the recruitment of players, coaches, and technical staff.
- Collaborate with scouts, analysts, and coaches to identify and acquire top talent.
- Monitor player contracts, transfers, and negotiations to ensure financial sustainability.
Operational Oversight
- Work closely with the head coach to provide support and ensure optimal team performance.
- Oversee the club’s academy program, ensuring it produces high-quality players for the first team.
- Manage budgets for football-related operations, including transfers, scouting, and facilities.
Performance Analysis
- Utilize data analysis and performance metrics to monitor the progress of teams and players.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of coaching methods, training programs, and game strategies.
- Provide regular reports to the board on football operations and performance.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Act as the key liaison between the board, coaching staff, and other departments.
- Represent the club in media appearances, meetings, and football governing bodies.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including agents and other clubs.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Extensive experience in football management, coaching, or a similar high-level role.
- A deep understanding of football operations, including recruitment, performance analysis, and player development.
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage budgets and align football objectives with financial constraints.
- Knowledge of domestic and international football regulations and standards.
- UEFA coaching licenses or equivalent qualifications are highly desirable.
